Alex walked down the red-carpet trip at the BAFTAs ...

THE MOST EXCITING PRIZE SHE HAS EVER WON!
Comper Alex Ross got a phone call at work on what seemed a normal Thursday − yet this call turned her day into one she would never forget.
She was totally shocked when she answered to a lady from Zoo magazine saying that she had won a trip to the BAFTAs...
" When she also told me that this included a two-night stay at the 4* Trafalgar hotel, a Champagne reception, the chance to stand at our own viewing area on the red carpet and a free meal at Christopher's restaurent in Covent Garden I nearly fell off my chair!" says Alex. "This is easily the biggest prize i've won since I started comping in September."
Alex and her partner live in North London and had arranged to meet friends in town for a drink on Saturday evening. Alex enjoyed the location; "it was so nice being able to saunter back to our posh hotel and not bother about getting a train home!!"
On Sunday morning after their free buffet breakfast at the hotel, they went to meet with the reps from Orange (the official sponsors of the BAFTAs) before getting dressed up and going to join the other prizewinners and Orange staff for a Champagne reception.
"After this we were taken on a double decker bus to the Royal Opera house, Covent Garden where the ceremony was taking place," Alex told me. Then carried on, enthusiastically describing a wonderful evening with the stars!
"After walking down the red carpet we were ushered into our viewing area which was right opposite the entrance to the Opera House and next to the photographer's area. On the bus, we had all been handed an earpiece which was a commentary telling us who was joining the red carpet. Because we were so far forwards, the celebrities had to go through all of the fans and the press before they got to us − so it could be 45 minutes after being announced before they finally appeared!
It was pretty exciting to have everyone from Helen Mirren to Sienna Miller walking past in their fantastic dresses.
By the time we were taken up to our seats at the very top of the Opera House the ceremony had just started. Jonathan Ross was his usual witty self, if slightly more tame than we're used to! There were no long, drawn out speeches - but I you will know that after it being shown on TV.
At the end of the ceremony, leaving the building, all of the security seemed to disappear and all of a sudden we found ourselves standing right next to Kate Winslet having a chat with Penelope Cruz, and Dame Judy Dench getting into her car.
The meal at Christopher's was fantastic (the free wine wasn't bad either!!).
At the end of our lovely meal a BAFTA was brought out onto the table. It took us a good half hour to figure out that it was made out of chocolate!
We had a great weekend and got a feel for the high life! On monday morning after another huge buffet breakfast I packed up, checked out and made my way to work (a 15 minute walk rather than an hour's journey from home) knowing that I was about to make my collegues truly jealous!!!"
What an amazing prize - something you really would never experience if it weren't for comping!
