What it feels like to win a £40,000 Ferarri Testerossa… Andy Grant tells all
“I was shocked” says Andy, describing how he felt he found he had won a Ferrari Testerossa!
“I couldn’t believe it at first, but it eventually sunk in… ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!”
For those of you who know exactly what a bright red, gleaming Ferarri Testerossa looks like, imagine grabbing the keys to the car and actually driving it home to your house! For those of you who aren’t sure, think 80’s classic Miami Vice, Don Johnson looking suave in his pastel suits… that’s your car ( only Don’s was white)!
The Ferrari Testerossa is a Performance Car lover’s paradise – AND WORTH A MASSIVE £40,000! It’s not everyday you get the chance to win a car like this, so how did Andy do it?
“I was browsing on the LA Muscle website: www.lamuscle.com when the competition caught my eye, and I thought why not enter. I can’t expect to win if I don’t enter in the first place can I?!”
Andy wasn’t sure if it was a genuine competition to begin with – a much-loved £40,000 Ferrari is almost too good a prize to be true. But reading the story behind the prize from the LA Muscle MD himself (who had decided he would give his own Testerossa to the lucky winner) and following all the terms and conditions on the website carefully, he realised it was indeed a genuine prize!
“I didn’t expect to win it” confesses Andy, “but then I did have that glimmer of hope, that it could be me”. Too right, if you get your entry to a competition in on time, there’s every chance that you can be the lucky winner.
As a big car lover, especially Super Performance Cars, this is Andy’s dream prize. But it wasn’t until he saw the car in the flesh (or metal) and held the keys, that he really felt the full excitement of owning a £40,000 Ferrari. Leaving his Don Johnson white jacket at home that day, he met professional bodybuilder Nav Sword to pick up the car.
“Are you going to keep the car?” asked Nav - I mean it must be tempting to sell a car worth £40,000.
“Urrrh,.. I think I’ll keep it for a while” smiles Andy, obviously already picturing himself cruising behind the wheel – perhaps even buying a new pastel suit!!
Andy was one of 2552 people who entered the competition, drawn by GBP Athlete Caroline Pearce on behalf of LA Muscle on 16 December 2005.
Mind you it wasn’t easy for Caroline to get hold of Andy… and on the 19 December she resorted to sending out help emails to the LA Muscle regular readers:
“We have been unable to contact the winner as yet. Can you believe his phone is switched off?!!! As soon as he is contacted and made aware of his win (it’s a he, sorry ladies) we will publish his name. Once he has come in to collect the vehicle, you can see photos of him and his prize.”
The next day, still no joy…
“The winner is Andy Grant of Butterwick, Boston, Lincs. Does anyone know him? His mobile is switched off, his home phone is on answerphone and he has not responded to our letter or email!!!!
If anyone knows Andy or where he is, please tell him to get in touch with us. If the prize is not collected within 14 days of the draw, he will forfeit it, so if you are his friend or relative, PLEASE FIND HIM!
Andy finally checked his voicemail messages and in total disbelief, called into LA Muscle! He now certainly believes you CAN WIN PRIZES, in fact YOU CAN WIN ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC PRIZES! And will be entering loads more competitions.
LA Muscle is planning to run more competitions in the future, and is going to contact us at Winner’s Friend as soon as they do. You’ll be the first to know!
