Pat Armstrong won a wonderful £50,000 cash prize!

How about Pat Armstrong’s first prize of £50,000 cash from a NPN route on the Maxwell House instant win prize draw? And she’s still enjoying entering competitions (and wining prizes) today!

Maxwell House ran the competition.  You needed to buy a jar of coffee to enter OR look for the No Purchase Necessary route in the terms and conditions (or in Pat’s case from a competitions listing magazine like Winner’s Friend). 

Two weeks after the competition’s closing date, Pat received a letter from Maxwell House saying she’d won a prize, and asking her to fill in and return the reply envelope to confirm it - but there was no envelope included. Wondering what she may have won (possibly a runner-up prize of £500??) Pat wrote to an address from a coffee jar, but the letter never got there. She could’ve lost out on her prize, and never have known about her £50,000 cash win!

Luckily, Maxwell House ran a great promotion, and as deemed by the ISP as good practice, sent another letter to Pat, this time recorded delivery, and with a reply envelope!

Pat then got the call we all dream of, confirmation that she was a winner! She was told that she hadn’t won one of the 10 x runner-up prizes of £500, not even the second prize of £5,000, but the £50,000 FIRST PRIZE!

Maxwell House arranged the presentation of the cheque and Pat and her husband Mike were told to be ready at 10.00am to be driven to receive it. What they didn’t know (though the neighbours, the vicar and in fact most of the village did) was that they had a hot air balloon waiting for them - as an added surprise – and hiding in the basket to hand them their cheque, was Noel Edmonds.

Pat still doesn’t know what shocked her more, getting the prize or being ‘gottcha’d’ by Noel! She was absolutely gob-smacked!

“Pat’s reaction was par for the course, said Noel Edmonds, “I have been in the fortunate position of giving out a quarter of a million pounds on behalf of Maxwell House. And every single person has been stunned”.

Pat and Mike wanted to do one very special thing with the money, and so took the family on a two-month family holiday to Australia – having a fantastic time on the East Coast and staying with Mike’s family in Brisbane. They have used the rest for redecorating the house, donations to charities, gifts for the family and have had a few really great Christmases! “ We’ve even managed to save some,” says Pat.

It is fantastic to hear that a No Purchase Necessary entry route can win such an amazing prize, and to see a competition run so well, Maxwell House were brilliant!
