How nice would it be to spend a weekend enjoying London? And I mean really enjoying it; not battling with rush hour on the M25, getting hot and bothered on the underground and grabbing an expensive sandwich at the station, doing something special and a little different.

Sarah-Jane doesn’t normally enter prize draws by text − usually by postcard − but this one stood out to her, and the text entry was just 50p so she decided to go for it: Win a 5* pampering weekend in London. The promoter was Closer magazine.

 

She couldn’t believe it when she got the phone call from Closer to say she had won − nothing quite prepares you for the great feeling you get when you hear someone tell you that you are a winner.

 

Sarah-Jane and her friend (lucky friend) began their London weekend being picked up at Euston station and driven to the lavish FIVE STAR Sanderson hotel in central London. The Sanderson has been transformed by Philippe Starck into an exotic “urban spa”. With its modern dream-world interior, it’s something out of the ordinary!

 

The girls felt like celebrities as they sat drinking pink Champagne at Charles Worthington’s salon while having their hair done. And even more so when they were whisked off to their makeover appointment at the famous Pout.

 

Looking gorgeous, they hit one of London’s trendiest Chinese restaurants, Hakkasan with £150 to spend on a dinner. “The food was fantastic,” says Sarah-Jane, “with £150 to spend we could try everything we wanted, which was superb!”

 

What do you do with £350 to spend in London? Hit the shops? See the sites? Well the girls managed to do a bit of both; they shopped, took a trip down the Thames, went on the London Eye, relaxed and really enjoyed themselves!

Winning this prize gave Sarah-Jane and her friend the chance to enjoy an extravagant weekend in London with no worries about scrimping on the pennies.
