A day in the life of a Millionaire!
SANDY MATHER’S LUXURY WEEKEND – LIVING LIKE A MILLIONAIRE
Sandy entered the Coca Cola/Morrison's text competition, to win a weekend living like a Millionaire.
The competition rules said only one entry per day, but enter as many days as you wanted − and Sandy did; she really really wanted to win this prize. Then, she got a text message back to say she had won!
Sandy was one of three people who had won this amazing weekend of luxury. Take a look at what the prize included:
First class rail travel to London.
Limousine transfers to and from her hotel and also to use whilst in London as she wished.
Five Star accommodation for one night for two people at the Sanderson Hotel, just off Oxford Street.
£500 for spa treatments for two.
£250 to spend on a meal at a top class restaurant of our choice.
£1,000 to spend at Harvey Nichols with the help of a personal consultant.
Plus the chance to pick a golden ticket with a further $1,000,000
All three winners went at the same time and meals, spa treatments etc. had to be booked as well and the travel − as you can imagine, this took a little bit of arranging! But once all was set to go, an incredible experience lay before them….
Sandy and her partner, Nic traveled to London on the Saturday morning and were met by limousine on arrival to take them to the Sanderson hotel. Neither of them had traveled first-class on the train before − so thoroughly enjoyed all the pampering and free beverages and food.
The room at the Sanderson was amazing as was the whole hotel. It’s considered ‘the place to be’; very chic and modern with incredible features. The lifts are dark purple with stars on the ceiling and there is a seat in the foyer resembling a huge pair of lips.
Their room was all glass including most of the walls which were draped with silk. They could change the colour of the walls by switching the light to a dreamy pink. The bathroom was a sea of glass even the sink.
The only thing missing was a hospitality tray − apparently they don't expect their guests to make their own tea!
The draw for the Golden Ticket – the chance to win $1,000,000 − was done in the hotel. After a quick facial and a little time to refresh and relax, Sandy and Nic went to the room for the draw.
They got to meet the competition organisers, the Coca-Cola representative, two official adjudicators and a photographer (should she win the big prize).
There were 100 envelopes laid out on a long table and in one was the golden ticket for $1,000,000! Sandy had to choose one envelope.
“I suddenly became very nervous,” Sandy told me. Well wouldn’t you be? This sounds more nerve racking than opening the final boxes in Noel Edmunds’ Deal or No Deal!
Sandy had visualised this moment hundreds of times in the months leading up to this moment … imagining drawing the winning ticket and having showers of sparkling stars, balloons, cheering, flashbulbs…
So near but yet so far. Sandy chose the envelope just one below the winning ticket!
“I think the girl that organised all this was more disappointed than I was, said Sandy. “I just felt as if I was in a daze, I couldn't believe I had come so close!”
Nic took Sandy down to the bar and ordered a stiff drink! They then had a massage and went for our meal at Pierre Marco White's restaurant. The food was superb and they thoroughly enjoyed their strawberries in champagne − a specialty of his.
They had £250 to spend on the meal and of course still a massive £1,000 to spend at Harvey Nicks the next day.
Sandy set her alarm early − she had an early reflexology treatment before breakfast. The spa was looked and smelt absolutely beautiful with silk clad walls and amazing aromas of various massage oils − which helped her forget her headache from the cocktails the night before!
Breakfast was served outside in the garden and there was everything on offer from toast to kedgeree, they only had to ask and it was there. They even had a patio heater brought over because the morning although bright was a little chilly.
After a very substantial brunch (it was now near 12.00pm) Sandy and Nic went out to do some shopping on Oxford Street. They didn’t spend all the £1000 and decided to save some of it instead.
Back at the hotel, they indulged in more spa treatments before being chauffeured to the train station to travel home.
The whole weekend was blissful and they both floated out of the hotel, relaxed, pampered and looking and feeling a million dollars.
They may not have won the $100, 000 but the experience of living like a millionaire for the weekend was just amazing− something they will never forget and something that made them feel a million dollars! It is the fantastic experiences like this that make the buzz of comping so addictive!
