" I wouldn't have missed it for the world"

SHEILA WON A PRIVATE HOT AIR BALLOON FLIGHT

Over the last few years, Sheila Figg from Hampshire has had a good few competition wins… a barbecue hamper of goodies, a package of Nivea products, £100 to spend on clothes.

But her best prize ever was a private flight in a hot air balloon courtesy of Wella (plus some of their hair products). What’s more the private trip was during the ‘Balloons over Basingstoke’ weekend and the atmosphere on the day was great.

 

 

Sheila and her husband were on tenterhooks, the day of their prize balloon trip, as the weather was a bit gusty and we feared the flight might not happen at all. 

Their pilot, a lady by the name of Trish, reassured them that they would go when the weather conditions were right and they were one of the last balloons to take to the air.

 

“It is surprising how quickly you go up once you get started and the views over the countryside were superb!” Sheila told me.  “You get a totally different perspective of your locality from the air and get to see sights you don’t see any other way”.

 

Their trip lasted an hour and the sun was starting to set as they came down to land. 

They landed in a field behind a cottage and became the entertainment for a ‘housewarming’ party.  Some of the guests from the party came over to get a closer look at the basket and chatted to us about our flight. 

 

“Over all it was a brilliant experience,” says Sheila. 

“I would not have missed it for the world!”
