Run by compers, for compers

“I held hands with George Clooney over Dinner!”

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have just come back from a two-night luxury break in London.

I entered the carrentals competition you told me about in the Winning Wire and couldn’t believe it when two weeks after the closing date, I got an email to say I’d won. I’m now on the winner’s page on their website: www.carrentals.co.uk with my tie-breaker:

'I want to explore London town because… ‘London great, weather fine, thank you carrentals for a smashing time’. Carrentals run tie-breaker competitions every month.

Their promotions team organised everything straight away, and after a quick call to my friend to check she was free to come too, we were off to London’s West End for two nights in the elegant four-star Berners Hotel.

We arrived on the Friday and just relaxed in the hotel – munching on the complementary chocolates and fruit in our room and testing out all the little extras in the luxurious suite! Isn’t it great waking up after a brilliant night’s sleep, in a peaceful room, crisp white sheets on the bed … coffee and biscuits at arm’s length and a bathroom suite full of pampering smellies? What a perfect way to start a day of sight-seeing!

We headed off to the London Eye. Looking across the whole of London from 140 metres up is quite spectacular. Between us (with the help of the guidebook) we could point out The Houses of Parliament, The Tower of London, and St Paul’s Cathedral. We gently came full circle and arrived back on the South Bank, and took a stroll along the embankment past the HMS Belfast!

That afternoon we went across to Madame Tussaud’s, wax museum – I haven’t been for years and years and it wasn’t until I stood excited in the queue, that memories came flooding back.

The huge hall that you walk into is now a place to have your photograph taken with Ant and Dec, or stood in the middle of Blair and Bush if you fancy. You can also sit down at a dinner table and hold hands with George Clooney!!! Of course I did that - and felt just like Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight!

It was truly memorable experience and my first really big win. If you’re having a lean patch, don’t get disheartened. Keep entering the comps, next time it could be you!

Many thanks and best regards
