Queen of the Castle!

I entered a national competition on the internet for BT Yahoo Messenger, downloading their new messenger service that entitled me to enter their free prize draw to win a New Year's Eve party with a difference!

I received an email on 17th December telling me that I had won the competition, and the more I read on, the more I couldn't believe it! I had won a New Year's Eve party for me and 20 friends in Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire. This included accommodation for everyone in the castle, a three-course meal, drinks to the value of £2,000, our own disco and travel expenses of £100 per person to get there.

So, we hired a fleet of three limousines and set off to enjoy a New Year's Eve party to remember!

Eastnor Castle is magnificent. It is where Davina Macall and her husband Matthew Robertson got married and I remember seeing fabulous pictures of it at the time. I couldn't believe we had the whole beautiful castle to ourselves.

When we arrived we were treated like royalty; we had three waiters who attended to our every need and had an absolutely fabulous night.

The meal was amazing, and with £2,000 to spend on drinks we could try the finest wines on the menu – we didn't manage to spend the whole £2,000!

It was fantastic to be able to share the night with family and close friends (though hard choosing which 20 of us were going to go!) The disco was great fun and moving from our candelabra-lit dining table through to a grand dance hall – my friends and I felt like stars all night!

Staying the night at Eastnor was marvellous. They have 11 rooms that are each absolutely splendid.The Grand State Bedroom has hosted royalty, and other rooms such as the Italian Bedroom, Lord Somer's Dressing Room and The Tulip Bedroom are so ornately decorated, it is easy to forget that you are not royalty! I have never stayed in such an amazing place.

On New Year's Day we were treated to a full breakfast and the limousines arrived to take us back home.

It really was a dream New Year and I'm sure you'll agree, a prize in a million!
